Race Rx Academy

About Race Rx

In the summer of 1999, Matt Rhea sat as an intrigued but frustrated graduate student in exercise science. His desire for information and vision for advancing our field lead to years of research in exercise prescription and performance enhancement. While his knowledge and system (Rhea’s Advanced Cardiovascular Exercise Prescription, RACE Rx) had developed significantly by 2005, the full impact of this revolutionary training system, and his training/performance philosophy did not reach its full potential until he began working with elite endurance athletes. By continuously refining the system, it has evolved into an effective and efficient system used by elite athletes, firefighters, and the general public seeking to achieve maximal fitness in less training time.

Dr. Rhea has taught at the university level for 10 years, developing two online master of science degree programs in exercise science and human movement. During this time he has investigated unique ways to deliver quality educational programs via the internet. This system has allowed many working professionals to continue their education and stay connected to our quickly developing body of knowledge without having to leave their current employment. This experience and desire has led to the development of the Academy of Exercise Sciences which supports applied research and offers online educational opportunities for health and fitness professionals.

After working with elite endurance athletes, Dr. Rhea became interested in different aspects of endurance performance enhancement and has conducted research examining topics such as running shoe technology, performance supplements, and recovery methods. His running company works to integrate all of this information, providing recreational and competitive endurance athletes with advanced information to foster their success.
