We are pleased to announce the hiring of Alicia Shay to oversee the RACE Rx Nutrition Company. In this position, Alicia will draw on her educational background from Stanford Univeristy and her years of experience as an elite runner to provide individual nutritional consultations through RACE Rx. Below are two options for nutritional consultations:

Fuel Optimization Services
Maximum performance is determined by two separate, but related, aspects: Physiological Preparation & Fuel Optimization RACE Rx Training Systems plays a vital role in helping you reach and maintain your physiological potential. But, if you neglect the second aspect related to your nutrition, the hard work and training may show little value when your performance suffers. We offer two vital services regarding nutrition: Nutrient Periodization and Fuel Optimization. The harder you train, the greater your nutrient demands. We offer nutrient schedules, designed specifically for the amount and intensity of your training. We periodize, or vary, training throughout the year to foster optimal development and performance. Why not match those variations in training load with appropriate nutrient changes? Secondly, Fuel Optimization is a process of identifying optimal nutritional intake, whether it is day-to-day habits, pre-competition, during competition, or recovery. RACE Rx Nutrition offers a complex testing process to identify specific nutritional needs, along with the development of an optimal competition fueling strategy. This process results in a detailed prescription for hydration, nutrition intake, and nutrient timing to facilitate maximal training and performance. A failure to consume enough nutrients will obviously limit training and performance; however, excessive intake (including water) can actually have a negative impact. Getting your nutrient intake and timing precise will have an incredible impact on how you feel and perform.

Proper nutrition will maximize overall health, athletic potential, reduce injuries, shorten recovery, improve performance and decrease health care costs. As an athlete and a student of nutrition, I understand how poor nutrition can impair not only overall health but also performance and goals. I truly believe that a nutrition plan does not have to be a boring, regimented eating plan! Rather, it can be a simple, straightforward and incorporate delicious food in a way that will help you maximize your health! Most individuals eat a relatively healthy diet or know which foods are “healthier” than others, but don’t know how to implement changes and are missing a few key components. My goal is to help you identify key improvement areas and then focus on real life changes that are easy to implement and maintain. We will work together to develop the best plan for you, which will be individualized to your lifestyle, fitness and performance goals. I truly am excited to help you improve your quality of life and maximize your athletic potential in new and exciting ways. A nutrition consultation will begin with a client completing a three-day Nutrition and Exercise Journal followed by a phone consultation. After the initial consultation I will begin formulating a nutrition program that is specified to you and your goals. Both of the below programs will address your overall nutrition, daily energy needs, weight management, and nutrition before, during and after training and competition.
